RAPAPORT... The marquise-shaped diamond — a darling of designers in the 1950s — is returning to favor. Designers use marquise-shaped diamonds to create patterns and textures in pieces by aligning the stones in fresh styles that play into today’s trends of elongated looks. The shape also gets a modern makeover when it is used in an east-west orientation, making a tried-and-true favorite new again.
