My Girl

By Rapaport
RAPAPORT...  The My Girl™ diamond has an international trademark and the design of the diamond is patented worldwide. The shape was developed by Yair Shimansky of the Shimansky Group in Cape Town, South Africa, who wanted to achieve a perfect balance of brilliance, scintillation and fire. My Girl debuted in Shimansky’s Cape Town store during 2004.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND CUTTING ISSUES
The My Girl diamond is an eight-sided square with a diamond-shaped table. It is cut from a crystal-shape rough. It is available in calibrated sizes of 2.3 mm to 6.0 mm and free sizes up to 7 carats at the present time. Sizes from 2.3 mm to 1.5 carats in I through D colors and SI through VVS clarities can be consistently supplied.

MARKETS AND MARKETING
My Girl is presently available for sale in South Africa, Macau and the U.S. Expansion into Hong Kong and the U.K. is expected later in 2008. The stone will be advertised in major fashion magazines in all new markets. A dedicated website will be operational on October 1, 2008. Display material and special signage are available.

The My Girl diamond is sold with an independent certificate by a gemological laboratory and the name is inscribed on the stone’s girdle.

PRICING AND SUPPLY
Prices are less than a round diamond. Jewelry ranges from $500 to $150,000, depending upon the diamond. Consistently calibrated goods up to 1.5 carats are available in large quantities. Larger stones are available at the rate of 300 carats per month.

WHAT BUYERS SHOULD LOOK FOR
Along with its warmly romantic name, My Girl combines beauty and balance in an attractive shape that allows sparkle to be reflected from the sides of the diamond, not only from the table.
