Designer Lines

By Amber Michelle
RAPAPORT... Inspired by the American landscape and the ingenuity of American people, Chicago, Illinois–based designer Ellie Thompson introduced the American Metaphor Collection. The jewelry showcases floral motifs in sterling silver or tricolored gold with sapphires and diamonds, as well as blackened silver with diamonds.

Playing into one of fashion’smost sought after neutrals right now — gray — Interjewel U.S.A. debuted its new Silvermist™ Diamond Collection. Highlighting diamonds in all shades of gray, and sometimes contrasted with white diamonds, this new collection is contemporary in design. Many of the diamonds used are from the Argyle mine in Australia and all the diamonds are natural color.

World Gold Council (WGC) has plans to promote gold, raise money for charitable causes and tap into celebrity glamour with its Leaves of ChangeSM initiative. For the project, A-list celebrities will be invited to design a gold pendant necklace with a leaf motif. Then WGC will pair the celebrity’s design with a gold jewelry designer who will create the piece. All of the pendants will be sold at an auction, with the proceeds going to either each celebrity participant’s favorite charity or to Jewelers for Children (JFC).

Three pieces of each design will be made. One will be auctioned for charity, a second given as a gift to the celebrity designer and the third will be part of a traveling mini-tour to the top ten jewelry markets to raise awareness for the charities. On board for the program so far is Debra Messing, executive producer and star of the USA network’s series “The Starter Wife,” who will collaborate with designer Robert Lee Morris. Messing’s piece will benefit YouthAIDS.

In today’s world, both price and presentation count. To address those needs, motiganz introduced its Purple Dreams™ collection, which encompasses a range of bridal and fashion jewelry, all packaged in purple boxes for an elegant presentation. The pieces are created to appeal to the consumer’s desire for a well-designed piece of jewelry that is affordable. The bridal collection offers an array of solitaires in both classic and contemporary styles, while the fashion collection combines black or brown diamonds with white diamonds for an innovative, design-forward look at a wallet-pleasing price.
