Designer Lines

By Amber Michelle
Inspired by a simple office object, jewelry designer Anibal Esteban created a diamond pavé ring modeled on the paper clip. After working as a messenger in the industry, Esteban began designing jewelry as a hobby. That hobby led to him opening the doors to his own firm AniEste Designs. In addition to being inspired by everyday items, Esteban’s work is influenced by a number of styles from the art world, including Art Deco, Retro, Industrial Modernism and the Memphis Movement of the 1980s.

Fashion-forward Italian jewelry brand Rebecca has teamed up with chocolate maker Baci Perugina for a sweet Valentine’s Day promotion. During this romantic holiday, when consumers purchase a piece of heart jewelry from Rebecca, they will be gifted with a box of Baci Perugina chocolates.

Hoops continue to be a favorite building block in a fashionista’s jewelry wardrobe, and Jeanne Johngren has a new entry in the category. The designer has created 18-karat gold hoops with her signature floral Mandala stations and diamond accents that are perfect for everyday wear.

World Gold Council (WGC) recently hosted its annual “Gold Expressions: The Divine Style of Italy” in New York City, along with the Vicenza Fair, Richline Group and AngloGold Ashanti. Gold Expressions is the WGC’s research-based marketing initiative that strives to bring fine-quality, “Made in Italy” gold jewelry to the global consumer market. The event introduces the newest offerings to retailers and the press. Top trends from this year’s collection are openwork, gold beads, stretchy bracelets, architectural shapes and a mix of textures. Statement jewelry is an important part of the collection, with big rings for the forefinger, large earrings — hoops or chandeliers — chains and oversized necklaces taking center stage.
