It’s a new year and a time for new beginnings. In that
spirit, the JA New York Show is reinventing itself, starting with its winter
show held January 22 through 24. New York is the jewelry capital of the U.S.,
with 95 percent of all diamonds that enter the country passing through 47th
Street and so many jewelry manufacturers that it is the third-largest industry
in the City, following behind finance and fashion. With that in mind, the JA
Show organizers are launching Jewelry Market Week to promote the entire jewelry
industry in New York. A new program, The Showroom, will kick off the event. The
Showroom program offers buyers an opportunity to make appointments with
designers from the Couture community who are not present at the show, but have
a showroom or event space in the City. Appointments can be made at a designated
booth on the show floor. A concierge service at the booth will arrange for a
chauffeured car service that will take the buyers from Javits Center to
appointments with the Couture designers and then back to Javits. Any
appointments made by retailers directly with participating designers prior to
the show will also be included in this service. JA will post details about
designer participants on its website www.ja-newyork.com as they become
available. New York is known for its diamond district and now there are more
reasons to take advantage of all the jewelry and diamond buying opportunities
that the New York jewelry community has to offer.
